Today in Western Civ we went over the questions and notes we did on Wednesday and talked about what each of the definitions mean here is what we went over;
Questions;
1. Direct Democracy (form of government in which citizens rule directly and not through representives)

Classical Art- was a period in Greece centered Athens when people first began to be credited for their work. pieces were filled with harmony, value and proportion. idealistic
Tragedy- type of serious form of drama play performed that is based off of human suffering, human flaw- HUBRIS - excessive pride Tragedy; Sophocles Oedipus Rex- showed that you can not escape your own fate.
Comedy- is another type of play performed that was meant to be humorous, made of crude humor, made fun of people that are rich, powerful, and well respected- Aristophanes, Lysistrata
Peloponessian war- 431 B.C.- 404 B.C.war between Sparta and Athens that Sparta declared and won.
Philosopher- someone who tried to make sense of the world- lover of wisdom
Socrates- important philosopher in Ancient Greece who asked questions to find deeper understanding of the world.
Plato- another philosopher who studied under socrates and found the Platonist School of thought and the academy.
Aristotle- another philosopher who went to the academy and founded the Lyceum and the Peripaetric School of Philosophy.
3.) He increased the number of public officials who were paid salaries.
4.)Athens waited until Sparta attacked them in the sea because they had an amazing navy. Sparta has an amazing army.
